Palestinian Recipe Book

Cover pages-page-001
With leadership from Jihan Nassar and resources from Fotonna, some of the women who attend the Bent Al Reef Women’s Education Center decided to create a small booklet detailing authentic Palestinian dishes.  The twelve recipes you will in the booklet are the ones that have been passed down from generation to generation, often not in written format.

As with other recipes from around the world that have been passed down like this, you may need to test out quantities, mostly of spices, to meet your own personal tastes.  Many of us have watched our mothers or grandmothers add a pinch of this and a dollop of that- a splash of vanilla, a drop of milk- mix until…You can have fun experimenting, but the core of the recipes is a good basis from which to start.  Preparing and sharing food with others -family and/or friends – is an international symbol of acceptance, appreciation and trust.  Those who break bread together also break down barriers of separation.

The booklet is complete with the descriptions of the Women’s Center projects, the recipes with pictures of the food, and poetry written by the women themselves. We are providing a complimentary copy of the book for donations of $10 or more.
