Dear Friends,
The Nassar family is appalled by the brutal physical attack on Daoud Nassar and Daher Nassar on Friday, January 28, 2022, which left them in a critical condition in a Bethlehem hospital. About fifteen masked individuals from the nearby Palestinian village attacked Daoud and Daher with iron bars, large sticks, and razors. Daoud and Daher were treated for major injuries in the head, back, and thighs and were then discharged after a few days but continue to be under monitoring. A friend of the Tent of Nations witnessed the attack, and the incident is now being investigated.
The well-planned attack perpetrated by a group of misguided “Palestinian” individuals with vague and suspicious agenda, seek to undermine the Palestinian struggle for justice by dividing the Palestinian people.
The Nassar family is utterly shocked by this horrific attack and the physical and emotional pain it ensued, yet thankful for the wave of local and international support and solidarity. The Nassar family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for friends who called, prayed for the family, sent words of encouragement and support via email, and personally visited Daoud and Daher Nassar.
The Nassar family extends its thanks and respect to His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, who contacted the family after the appalling attack promising to bring them justice and generously covered the costs of the medical treatment.
The perpetrators behind this attack are known but remain not caught to this moment. We call on the responsible entities to expedite the process, conduct immediate and thorough investigations for the attack against Daoud and Daher Nassar and bring the culprits to justice.
